片岡 司（Tsukasa Kataoka）
1977年生まれ。写真作家。
2005年より写心作家・小川勝久氏に師事し、自然を通じて人の心に触れる作品づくりを志す。
2020年からは高野山真言宗の高僧・書家である静慈圓師との交流を深め、写真と書の融合を追求。
使用する和紙は、文化財修復にも用いられる京都・丹後産の「丹後和紙」。
時に阿波紙や金銀箔を用い、現代における祈りのかたち＝**「風景曼荼羅」**を表現している。
近年は、アートフェアやギャラリー展示を通して国内外の観客との対話を重ね、作品は高野山金剛峯寺や慶雲館「玉座の間」にも常設展示されている。
また、2024年には高野山真言宗 総本山金剛峯寺 座主・長谷川真道管長猊下より宗教文化への貢献を称えられ褒賞状を授与された。
日本の伝統と精神性を現代アートとして世界に届けるべく、活動の幅を広げている。
Tsukasa Kataoka
Born in 1977. Contemporary photographic artist based in Japan.
Kataoka studied under photographer Katsuhisa Ogawa from 2005, developing a visual language rooted in the belief that nature can quietly enrich the human spirit.
Since 2020, he has collaborated with Shizuka Jien, a calligrapher and high-ranking monk of the Koyasan Shingon tradition, exploring the fusion of photography and sacred calligraphy.
His primary medium is Tango washi, a rare handmade Japanese paper used in the restoration of national treasures.
Combining traditional materials such as Awa washi, gold and silver leaf, he creates works he calls “landscape mandalas”—visual meditations imbued with prayer.
His works have been exhibited in both Japan and abroad, and are now permanently displayed at sacred sites such as Kongobu-ji Temple in Mount Koya and the Throne Room of Keiun-kan in Nagahama.
In 2024, he received a Certificate of Commendation from the Head Abbot of Kongobu-ji for his contributions to spiritual culture through the arts.
Kataoka continues to expand his international activities, sharing Japanese tradition and spirituality with the contemporary art world.
